Shift with Me

This week's shift with me post is about creating successful habits, slowing down, and getting out of your own way to success (whatever success means to you).

Here are my top three from this past week.
Life's speed limit 65, you are going at 130: full read here
This one resonates with me. I think it resonates with many. I find it that we are often in a hurry - to get to that next job, that next trip, that next business deal; and, in the process, we forget to enjoy the journey. I am a person who goes full speed! I like fast paced lifestyle, deadlines, and ever changing world of business. When things get too slow, I tend to get bored very quick. (I am a recovering workaholic).

This is something I am getting better at, but still work in progress. I intentionally make time to just reflect on where I am today, what I am doing today and just being present. Journaling helped me a lot with it. Just taking a few minutes to be grateful for where you are makes a difference. Just think of all the things you wanted to do that you are now doing. The life you wanted to have that you are now living.

My dad always said "Life starts at 40" and I really believe that. So, if you are under 40, you haven't even started yet! I am 34 and I feel like every year I am just getting started. There is so much more to life and opportunities, if only we are able to recognize that.
If are you over 40 - share you advice with us in comments, tell us what you think about what I said. We are living longer, working with more purpose, having better access to healthcare, etc., the idea of retiring in your 60s is long gone. Retirement does not have to be you just waiting to die. Life is movement. I don't believe in retirement, the moment we stop living with a purpose and mission in life, we are beginning to die. So, let us find that purpose, let us be excited to continue our work long into our later years.

Next time you are running towards that next thing - stop and look around you. What are you missing out on NOW? Who needs your attention now?  Live with quality.

Whether you are looking to get in shape, eat healthier, grow in your career, start a business, grow a business, expand your network, learn new skills, etc. - consistency and discipline are essential if you want to reach that next level in your potential. There is no magic formula, no side roads you can, no shortcuts. You have to do the work. Period. If you want to be quality, that is. And, I believe we should always aim for quality in all that we do. Practice is what makes you better. Showing up consistently each day is what makes you better. Showing up for yourself on days when you don't feel like it is what makes you stronger and even better. Shortcuts really do lead to longer journeys. Think long term vs short term.

Time will pass anyway, how will you make sure you are maintaining your quality in all that you do?

This will either make you or break you: full read here
When it comes to growth of any kind - career, personal, financial, emotional, spiritual, etc. - it ultimately comes down to what sort of habits we create to drive the change forward and what habits we need to let go to move forward?

Habit tracker is a brilliant way to start creating new habits in a sustainable and disciplined way.  It makes it easier to adopt and stay with new habits. There is nothing difficult about starting a new habits/replacing one that does not serve you well - there is a process to it - learn it, live by it, thrive in life with it.

What habits are you looking to build?
